Join Us for a Special Mentorship Talk with Annie Griffiths and Flash Grant Opportunity

Vital Impacts is delighted to announce a special session of our Online Mentorship Series, led by the legendary photographer Annie Griffiths, on March 20 at 11 AM ET. Annie will share valuable insights on photographing people in the conservation world, offering her unique perspective on capturing human connection and environmental storytelling.
About Annie Griffiths
One of the first woman photographers for National Geographic, Annie Griffiths has worked in over 100 countries throughout her illustrious career, contributing numerous magazine and book projects for the publication.
An accomplished author, Annie has published several books, including Simply Beautiful Photographs, A Camera, Two Kids and A Camel, and Last Stand: America’s Virgin Lands, with Barbara Kingsolver. She is currently writing a weekly Substack called “You’re Not That Nice” and hopes to publish her memoir, Available Light, next year.
In 2011, Annie founded Ripple Effect Images, a collective of photographers documenting programs that empower women and girls in the developing world. Through Ripple’s compelling storytelling, aid organizations have raised over ten million dollars and expanded their programs globally.
Annie is also a founding member of The International League of Conservation Photographers and has received numerous awards from the National Press Photographers Association, Heifer International, the National Organization for Women, the University of Minnesota, and the White House News Photographers Association, among others.
An Exciting Flash Grant Announcement
During this special session, Annie will also announce the launch of a Vital Impacts Flash Grant, made possible through proceeds from her Substack, “You’re Not That Nice”. While the final grant amount is still being determined, it will be at least $2000 USD, providing a meaningful opportunity for an emerging photographer to further their work.
Register here to join the talk and gain firsthand insights from Annie’s extraordinary career. Members of our Online Speaker Series will automatically receive an invitation to attend.
You can subscribe to Annie’s thoughtful, witty, and poignant Substack, “You’re Not That Nice”, here. Fifty percent of all proceeds from her Substack subscriptions will go directly toward supporting this and future Vital Impacts Flash Grants, empowering visual storytellers globally.
