When nature is in harmony and the forest surrounding the lake remains in a natural state. Here, nature has remained clean and untouched. Beneath the surface, perch swim quietly among the reeds. This image pair is a reminder that the world thrives and remains well when left undisturbed by humans.
While Finland is known as the land of thousands of lakes, most of these waters have never been explored or photographed below the surface. Beyond the lakes, there are countless small ponds, rivers, and natural springs.
Tiina Törmänen is a Finnish photographer who started with documentary-style film portraits and later embraced digital. Her work is meditative and multidimensional, focusing on the atmospheric landscapes of boreal forests and arctic highlands. In 2018, she ventured into underwater photography.
