Aerial photo of the Tiramisu Mountains in West Kazakhstan’s Mangystau Desert. These multicolored sedimentary layers look like a giant slice of a layered cake. Bands of red, ochre, yellow, cream, and pale blue curve across the landscape in concentric swirls, exposed by erosion over millions of years. Cracks and ridges cut through the formations, adding texture to the scene, while a car near the bottom offers a sense of scale. The result is a surreal, painting-like view of geological history written in stone. 

Isabella Tabacchi visited Mangystau several times in the past years and explored even the most remote corners of this desert to find the most incredible examples of nature artistry and translate them into photographs. 

Isabella Tabacchi is an Italian landscape photographer based in Bologna but often exploring the World. For her, photographing the environment is a way to express her inner self and emotions through natural symbols, and often the preference for some specific weather, colors and contrasts.
