Applications for the Vital Impacts 2025–2026 Environmental Photography Grants and Mentorships open this Thursday, May 15! Our program harnesses visual storytelling to drive positive change, focusing on local, solution-based environmental narratives that inspire action.

This year, we’re awarding one $20,000 grant and six $5,000 grants to support documentary projects highlighting environmental solutions. Recipients will develop their projects over twelve months, bringing vital stories to life with ongoing support from the Vital Impacts team and mentorship community.

In addition to the grants, ten emerging photographers will be selected to participate in an intensive mentorship program. Selected mentees will engage in one-on-one sessions with industry experts, renowned photographers, and influential photo editors. Through these sessions, participants will refine their storytelling skills, gain insight into the photography industry, and build valuable professional connections.

The deadline to apply for $50,000 in grants and ten in-depth mentorships is September 15, 2025. All applicants will be invited to participate in an online mentorship series, offering meaningful learning opportunities and insights for everyone involved.
