Merche Llobera. Between Two Worlds.
The image captures the crazy duality of the hunt: above, pelicans dive from the sky in a well-coordinated dance, hunting for their prey. Meanwhile, underwater, it's pure chaos. Mahi-mahi dart around at top speed, chasing sardines. I was in the water for hours because the baitball was static.
The surface was murky from the feast, with sea lions also joining the action. Whales passed by, but none went for the sardines. Being in the middle of this frenzy was wild and exhilarating. I felt so fortunate to witness such an incredible scene, showcasing nature's raw, chaotic beauty from an unforgettable perspective.
Merche Llobera, passionate about the animal world, has been awarded in competitions such as Ocean Photographer of the Year, Nature TTL, and Siena Awards. She has spoken at various events, contributed to volumes 1 and 3 of MOTHER magazine, and collaborated on conservation and education projects.
