We're Hiring a Development Director

We’re hiring a Development Director, and this is a position I’ve been thinking carefully about for some time.

Vital Impacts has grown quickly, and so has the scope of my role. I spend a lot of time in the world—speaking, building relationships, telling stories, and opening doors. What I’m looking for now is a true partner: someone who wants to work closely with me, helping translate that visibility, momentum, and connection into sustained fundraising results.

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves building. The Development Director will lead major individual giving and/or corporate partnerships, steward relationships with care, and help put the systems and strategy in place that allow a small, founder-led organization to scale thoughtfully. A deep respect for journalism and storytelling is essential, as that work sits at the heart of everything we do.

I think this role could be a great fit for a former Executive Director or senior leader from a small organization who has personally led fundraising and is excited to focus deeply on growth and partnership. It could also be a strong next step for a development leader who thrives in entrepreneurial environments and enjoys being close to the action.

This is a remote, contract role (approximately 30 hours/week) with flexibility and meaningful leadership responsibility. The compensation is $120k/year for 80% time commitment.

You’ll find the full job announcement linked here. The deadline to submit an application is 2/20/2025.

If this sounds like you, let me know! We are working with NRG Consulting Group on this search. I’d love to connect you with Naomi Roth-Gaudette, Jaclyn Jones, and their team. Jaclyn can be reached at jaclyn@nrgconsultinggroup.org.

If this sounds like anyone you know, will you please forward this message to them? Please also send referrals our way!

Thanks, as always, for being part of this community and for helping me find the right person to build what comes next.

Warmly,
Ami Vitale
