Anatoly leaves the improvised sauna and races into a freezing lake in Siberia. He is part of a group of Russian scientists and explorers from the Russian Geographic Society that is, among other things, measuring the pollution levels from Norilsk Nickel, a former gulag that produces eight percent of the pollution from Russia. Norilsk Nickel has so far evaded sanctions because the nickel and palladium they produce is so important for electric vehicles.
Randy Olson is a photographer in the documentary tradition. His 30+ National Geographic projects have taken him to almost every continent. In 2011, Randy founded The Photo Society. The purpose of the organization is to provide exposure to members as the economics of print dwindles.
