Mateusz Piesiak. Calmness.
Great Egret (Ardea alba), Barycz Valley, Poland.
It's almost five a.m. and I'm already laying in a small hide by the lake. It is completely dark and every now and then I can hear strange sounds that make my heart beat faster. The fog is so thick that the landscape I know for years is now unrecognisable. A lonely great egret is still immersed in sleep while the wings of a thousand gulls slice the air above. I love this magical time when the night is already gone but the day is yet to come. The light is subtle and everything slowly wakes up. A new day begins.
