A little owl (Athene noctua) perches on top of a rock at sunrise in Spain. With an appearance similar to a cat's, including big yellow eyes and strong claws, these tiny birds hunt primarily insects and other small animals at sunrise and dusk, when they are more active, especially during the hottest months of the year. These sedentary birds inhabit northern Africa and parts of Europe and Asia.
